We are nearing that time of year for the payroll deduction of Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) membership fees. I have received notification from the college that the annual membership fee for 2017 is unchanged. Payroll will be scheduling the $150 fee deduction to occur on the pay of February 3, 2017.
This fee will be taken from contract teachers and Occasional Teachers in LTO assignments. Daily OT’s, person’s on leave and members that do not have a pay on February 3 must make their own arrangements with the OCT to pay the membership fee.
As in prior years, if someone does not wish the fee to be deducted, they must send this request in writing to myself and state the reason for no fee deduction. ie. retirement; already paid 2017 fee; etc..
Please note that the board requires a teacher to be in good standing with the OCT to continue to be in the classroom.
