The Board has notified the local that approximately will be added to the LTO list on Sept 1st through the process that was outlined in the LTO list settlement. These members were notified by the board through an e-mail.
As for those on Pregnancy Leave during the 2014-2015 school year it is the Board’s opinion that “their employment as an OT has been maintained and that is the extent of our obligation under the Employment Standards Act. There is no evidence that those on Pregnancy Leave would have applied to and/or been successful to LTOs that were made available during 2014-2015 school year.”
Our local has contacted ETFO provincial and we are not able to press this issue further. It is felt that since all members will have the chance to interview in the fall that those members that were on leave, regardless of the reason, are not being disenfranchised.
All OTs that meet the criteria and apply to the LTO list in the fall shall be granted an opportunity to interview as per the settlement and regulation. According to the above agreement, the board must hold these interviews prior to Nov 30th.
