5 Reasons to attend this year’s ETFO WROTL AGM

All Occasional Teachers are invited to attend this year’s ETFO WROTL AGM on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at The Conestoga Place at 4:30 pm.

Here are 5 great reasons why should you attend:

  1. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Do you know what your union does? Are you aware of your constitutional rights as an OT? While no one plans on being an OT for very long, the reality is that this is your chosen profession and you should be aware of the issues facing you in your job.  If you’ve never been to an event before, make the AGM your first one!
  2. FREE DINNER: We know you’ve had a lot of job cancellations lately, which hurts the pocket book.  This year’s free dinner includes schnitzel, beef, potatoes, veggies, dessert and wine! We OTs know how to balance business with pleasure.
  3. JOB ACTION UPDATE: Some of us hear water cooler talk at schools, but do you really understand the situation with the government? Inform yourself and come for a better understanding of what’s happening now, and what might happen in the near future.
  4. SOCIAL INTERACTION WITH PEERS: We know being an OT can be a lonely gig – who knows where you’ll be from one day to the next. Come to the AGM and meet some other really cool people, like yourself, and share your professional experiences with someone who understands what you are going through.
  5. MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT: Your local is having its yearly elections. Your executive isn’t just a bunch of pretty faces, we plan professional development days and funding, keep you informed, keep you safe, and balance the budget.  Make your vote count!
