We All Live on Turtle Island (January 30 9:00am to 12:00pm)
The goal of this workshop is to introduce Occasional Teachers to an infusion of Aboriginal content into their elementary classrooms. Key components of the workshop will emphasize present-day experiences and cultures of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples. Participants will learn how to create a unique and memorable inclusive learning environment. Specifically, it will demonstrate how occasional teachers can use available resources quickly and easily to engage students in aboriginal education.
Occasional Teaching: Tips and Advice (January 30 1:00pm to 3:00pm)
In this workshop we will discuss classroom management, how to engage students, quick assessment strategies, and promoting yourself as an educator in a new school. There will be opportunities for attendees to share strategies that work for them and to problem solve issues that arise for OT’s in the classroom.
