Math: Professional Development Opportunity for Occasional Teachers

The Waterloo Region Occasional Teachers’ Local, in collaboration with the Waterloo Region District School Board is pleased to present “Math: Professional Development Opportunity for Occasional Teachers”, a workshop based on current WRDSB Math initiatives.

The purpose of this workshop is to build capacity around effective mathematics instruction for occasional teachers with an emphasis on similar messaging given to contract teachers within WRDSB for continuity.

Topics include:

  • What is “Teaching Through Problem Solving”?
  • The three part lesson
  • Creating a math community
  • How do I plan for instruction in math?
  • Board and Ministry resources that support math instruction

This workshop is designed to prepare Occasional Teachers when working as a classroom teacher. Similar information is presented to those that have participated in the NTIP program. Please consider this when registering.

This workshop will take place Monday, October 27th, 2014 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the WROTL office (130 Highland Road East).  Go to https://wrdsbmathpd.eventbrite.ca to register.

Light snack will be served.  Childcare subsidy available upon request.  24 hours notice for cancellations is required.
