Anti‐Bias Award

This award may be offered to an active ETFO member or group of members who develop and teach
units and/or incorporate practices which work toward the elimination of bias. The recipient shall
receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.

Arts and Culture Award

One award may be presented to an active member of ETFO to recognize involvement in arts and cultural activities for children in either the classroom or community. The recipient shall receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.

Children’s Literature Award

The award may be presented to an individual who is not a member of ETFO who writes children’s literature. The recipient shall receive a certificate as well as the right to use a decal indicating that the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario has recognized the book.

Curriculum Development

Award One award may be presented to an active ETFO member or members to recognize a curriculum unit, resource, etc. that they have developed, including those that use innovative technologies. The recipient shall receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.

Health and Safety Activist Award

This award may be presented to an active member of ETFO to recognize their outstanding commitment and involvement in health and safety activities. The recipient shall receive a recognition award and be
invited to a luncheon and awards ceremony at the Annual Meeting.

Honorary Life Membership

Honorary life membership in ETFO may be granted to an individual who has retired from the education profession, including occasional teaching, one year prior to the upcoming ETFO Annual Meeting, and who has given outstanding service to the Federation at the provincial level, or as a member of the provincial ETFO staff. The recipient(s) shall be given an ETFO pin and extended the rights and privileges of being an honorary life member. The recipient(s) shall be honoured at the Annual Meeting.

Humanitarian Award for an ETFO Member

This award may be granted each year to an active ETFO member who has given outstanding service to supporting children in the local or global community. The recipient shall receive a donation of $500 to further the work being acknowledged by ETFO and be invited to a luncheon and awards presentation at the Annual Meeting.

Humanitarian Award for a non‐ETFO Member

This award may be granted each year to an individual or a group of individuals who do not hold ETFO membership but have given outstanding service to supporting children in the local or global community. The recipient shall receive a donation of $500 to further the work being acknowledged by ETFO and be
invited to a luncheon and awards presentation at the Annual Meeting.

Member Service and Engagement Award

This award recognizes the excellence of ETFO locals serving members, keeping members informed, and involving members in the local. Up to two locals may receive this award annually. Locals receiving this award shall have the president and two representatives from their delegation to the Annual Meeting invited to a luncheon and will be recognized at an awards ceremony during the Annual Meeting.

New Member Award

The New Member Award recognizes a member of ETFO with five years or less membership who has shown a commitment to the Objects of ETFO and been significantly involved at the local and/or provincial level of the organization. The recipient shall receive a recognition award and be invited to a
luncheon and awards ceremony at the Annual Meeting.

Outstanding Role Model for Women Award

This award may be offered annually to an active ETFO female member who has been an outstanding role model for women at the local level during the previous school year. The recipient shall receive a recognition award and be invited to a luncheon and awards presentation at the Annual Meeting.

Rainbow Visions Award

One award may be offered to an active ETFO member or group of members or to an individual, or group of individuals, who do not hold ETFO membership, who develop materials and/or incorporate practices which work toward the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender realities. The recipient shall receive $500 and certificate of recognition from the President.

Writer’s Award

This award may be presented to an active ETFO member or a group of members to recognize published or unpublished works. The recipient shall receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.

Woman’s Program

Curriculum Development Award

One award may be presented to an active ETFO female member or a group of female members to recognize a curriculum unit, resource, etc. that they have developed, including those that use innovative technologies. The recipient shall receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.

Women Working in Social Activism on behalf of Women and Children Award

This award may be granted each year by ETFO to an individual female or a group of females who do not hold ETFO membership but have been outstanding social activists on behalf of women and children in Ontario. Up to two awards of $2,500 and a certificate of recognition may be granted to the recipients.

Women Who Develop Special Projects in Science and Technology Award

This award may be presented as an incentive for active ETFO women members to produce innovative educational materials related to science and technology. The recipient shall receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.

Writer’s Award

This award may be presented to an active ETFO female or a group of female members to recognize published or unpublished works. The recipient shall receive $500 and a certificate of recognition from the President.
