Connecting…Occasionally – President’s Message

October 15th, 2013

Hello Members,

I realize that this is a very busy time for us. Daily work is starting to pick up with the changing of the seasons and those in LTOs are busy with diagnostics/assessments and progress reports. Please make every effort to attend our Fall Annual Meeting on October 24th. This is only one of two scheduled all member meetings for the year and it is important to have a voice in how your organization is run.

Your executive is proud to represent the Waterloo Region Occasional Teachers and this is an opportunity to get informed.

There is also some openings on a few committees for the 2013-2014 school year and we will have information at the meeting.

Staff Room Thursday

This Thursday, October 17th will be our first Staffroom Thursday of the school year. Please join us at the WROTL office at 4:30pm. The topic of discussion will be “networking in the schools.” We will be sharing and discussing ideas for how to become better known in the schools and hopefully acquire more OT jobs.

Staffroom Thursdays are informal gatherings for OTs to meet and discuss relevant issues and teaching strategies. Since OTs don’t have a staffroom of their own, this is a great opportunity meet other people in the same position as you and who have similar challenges. Come out and meet some new people!
